Method 1 — Checking Your Status on Absher
Absher is the most comprehensive tool for checking all your residency and visa information in one place. It shows your iqama status, exit visa status, Huroob status and any violations against your record.
Open Absher and Log In
Download the Absher app from App Store or Google Play. Log in with your 10-digit iqama number and password. If registering for the first time you need your Saudi mobile number for OTP verification.
Check Iqama Status
Go to "My Services" → "Residency Services." Your iqama expiry date, current status (Active/ Expired/Under Renewal) and sponsor details are displayed. Screenshot and save for your records.
Check Exit Visa Status
Go to "My Services" → "Exit Visas" or "Travel." Your active exit re-entry visa is shown with issue date, expiry date and entry type (single/multiple). Always check this before any international travel.
Check Family / Dependent Status
Go to "My Family" section. Each dependent's iqama status and expiry is shown separately. Visit visas issued for family members also appear here. Check all family members independently — expiry dates may differ.
Check for Any Violations or Alerts
Look for any notification badges or alerts on your Absher home screen. These indicate violations, pending fines or actions required. A Huroob (absconding) flag would appear as an urgent alert — if you see this contact HRSD immediately.
Method 2 — Checking via Muqeem (No Saudi SIM Needed)
If you are outside Saudi Arabia or do not have your Saudi SIM active, use the Muqeem website to check your residency status without OTP verification.
- Visit muqeem.sa
- Select "Iqama Inquiry" or "Residency Inquiry" from the services menu
- Enter your iqama number and date of birth — Hijri format may be required
- Complete the captcha verification and submit
- Your iqama details including status and expiry date are displayed
- Take a screenshot of the result for your records
Method 3 — Checking Incoming Work Visa Status via MOFA
If you are outside Saudi Arabia and waiting for a work visa to be processed, check its status via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa inquiry tool.
- Visit visa.mofa.gov.sa
- Select "Visa Inquiry" or "Check Visa Status"
- Enter your passport number, nationality and visa application reference number
- The status shows as: Under Processing, Approved, Rejected or Issued
- If approved, your visa can be collected at the Saudi embassy or may be available as an e-visa
What the Status Results Mean
| Status Shown | What It Means | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Active / Valid | All good — current and valid | Monitor expiry date monthly |
| Expired | Past expiry date | Contact HR urgently — fines accumulating |
| Under Renewal | Renewal in process | Follow up with HR on timeline |
| Cancelled | Iqama cancelled by sponsor | Contact employer and HRSD immediately |
| Huroob / Absconding | Employer filed absconding report | File HRSD complaint immediately — urgent |
| No record found | Data mismatch or entry error | Double-check iqama number entered — try Muqeem |
How Often Should You Check?
- Monthly — quick routine check of your iqama and exit visa status on the first of every month. Takes 2 minutes on Absher.
- Before every international trip — check iqama status and exit visa status the day before departure without exception.
- After any employment dispute — check Absher daily if you have had any dispute with your employer. Huroob is sometimes filed retaliatorily and you want to catch it immediately.
- 3 months before iqama expiry — start the renewal reminder process with HR.
Frequently Asked Questions
Absher shows a different expiry date than what is printed on my iqama card. Which is correct?
The Absher system shows the live database record — this is the authoritative version. The printed iqama card may be outdated if a renewal was processed but a new card not yet printed. For travel purposes the system record on Absher is what immigration checks — not the physical card. If there is a significant discrepancy contact HR.
I cannot access Absher from abroad. What can I use?
Use Muqeem.sa — it works without a Saudi SIM and without Absher registration. You only need your iqama number and date of birth. For work visa status use visa.mofa.gov.sa. For Qiwa contract status visit qiwa.sa with your iqama credentials.
My Absher shows "Huroob" against my name. I have not absconded. What do I do?
File an HRSD complaint immediately at hrsd.gov.sa selecting "False Huroob Report." This is a serious situation — Huroob prevents you from renewing your iqama, leaving Saudi Arabia and conducting many official transactions. Do not delay. If you are outside Saudi Arabia contact your embassy as well. Full guide: Huroob Status Guide.
